Autorun Menu with password-protection for CD, DVD and USB
How do you create an Autorun Menu on CDs, DVDs or USB sticks, which contain sensitive data that requires password protection?
Encoding CDs There are a large number of methods for password-protecting entire CDs, DVDs and USB sticks against unauthorized access. These methods offer an ideal way of protecting internal company data. As soon as you want to distribute the CD (DVD or USB), however, it is important to create an Autorun Menu interface that informs and guides users through the available data. (Glossar: USB Stick) The Problem: Autorun Menus and data encryption In order for the operating system to start the user interface (CD Menu) to guide users through the data, the encryption of the entire data-carrier device is discarded. To get around this, the files containing the sensitive data have to be password-protected individually. (Glossar: CD Menu | Autorun, Autorun Menu) CDMenuPro Autorun Menu Creator supports data encryption protection This page introduces a software product for Windows that creates professional Autorun Menus that can be used to link password-protected files directly to clickable buttons on the menu. Glossar
Autostart, Autorun, Autoplay
Autostart, autorun and autoplay are all terms used to describe the same function, namely the automatic starting of a program as soon as a CD or other data-carrying device is inserted into a Windows computer. This function is often used for multi-media presentations. If the CD or DVD contains a number of documents or files, it makes a great deal of sense to start a CD Menu first so that users can easily navigate. Users can then select the file they want to see using the buttons on the user interface.
